Position- Seed Consultant/ Agricultural Representative Position Summary
The Seed Consultant is to contact assigned customers and prospects by phone (normally 4 or 5 times/year) to sell products, collect deposits and amounts due, follow up for feedback on product performance and/or customer satisfaction, record and relay that feedback, negotiate with the customer to resolve any issues, maintain customer satisfaction, and increase the amount of product(s) used by the customer in order to achieve established sales objectives.
Primary Job Duties
- Develop account management plan and contact customers and prospective customers by telephone and interview to determine needs and record customer/prospect information in contact management system (FIRST).
- Provide consultation regarding crop management, troubleshoot and resolve product and customer service issues, and record this information and transactions in FIRST
- Improve customer service skills, selling skills, and product/agronomic knowledge by participating in training sessions
- Participate in weekly Sales Team Meetings to improve methods for efficiency, effectiveness and customer satisfaction
- Develop technical agronomic knowledge in order to pass examination for Certified Crop Advisor. Maintain certification through continuing education.
- Match products and technologies to customer needs, recommend specific products/technologies and quantities.
- Record orders, deposits and payments in FIRST timely
- Obtain and record Technology Agreements, Grain Marketing Communications required by Monsanto in order for the customer to purchase the product.
- Recommend Service and Product Credits to Team Leaders, Product Manager and/or VP Sales to resolve customer complaints regarding product performance/service.
- Complete customer refund documentation timely and submit to team leader for approval
Qualifications
- 5+ years successful agricultural sales and/or Agronomic experience
- Proven track record of sales accomplishment
- Proficient in multiple computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- Sound decision making and problem solving skills
- Strong Agronomic skills and knowledge of modern farming practices, traits and general agricultural information
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Agriculture or Business with CCA desirable
